Would You Trust Christians?

Pretty sure that much of the ‘world’ see them this way, too. While I still identify as a Christian, in that I will not let the unclean steal my birthright name, I don’t announce it any more, for exactly these reasons:

  1. I know you once were or maybe still are a music minister (worship director). So do you know the song that says, “They will know we are Christians by our love.”
To me that is how I try to discern if someone is a Christian or not. Not that I judge a person, but to decide if I want to have fellowship with that person or not. And to see if I want to have a bible study together, etc.
Of course, maybe I am practical or maybe I’m too positive/hopeful or maybe I live in Texas, USA. I’m not originally from Texas, but the ones I’ve met sure have been nice. I’m originally from Louisiana, with family from the heart of Cajun country and Puerto Rico… and a wee bit of family that came from Scotland and Ireland, long ago. I wish I knew more about my family from on the other side of the big pond. But alas, I don’t have much of a lead on that part of my family.
Anyway, don’t let the fake or those led astray by false Christian leadership get you down. God is still in His throne and He is sovereign! Read about the dark ages and other times in history or when in other countries when darkness seemed to be winning. Think about it, satan thought he was winning when Jesus was nailed to a cross, but that was the very time in which he lost!
History repeats itself, as I’m sure you have read. And so darkness rears it’s ugly head, time and time again. But our God is faithful and true and is working even though we don’t see Him. I myself loose hope from time to time, but then thankfully God (I often call Him: Papa. Kinda like many call their father, Dad or Pops. I always liked the nickname – Papa because of stories from both of my grandmothers (Puerto Rican and Cajun). Back on subject… I’m told I’m borderline ADHD. Lol! And happy to be sometimes. Anyway… I do loose hope and feel down, but the. I notice puffy clouds giving me shade on a really hot Texas summer day. Or I read the bible and some verses speak to me, reminding me of God, my Papa’s love and care while I’m down cast. And today I found you online when I had a question for my Papa about how to reach my step-son, that has a gift of being an Aspie. (Him along with his Dad and grandfather… I wrote another comment in a different blog of yours, where you offer help for Aspies interacting with folks at church and such.
And on top of that, I admit that I’ve found your blog to be inspiring and I thank you for that!!! I needed an answer and God pointed me to you. And I personally don’t believe that there is such a thing as coincidence. Well, not when it comes to prayers being answered by God. So I thank God for you, my brother in Christ. And I hope I’ve brought you a little cheer today. You are a remarkable man and I believe God has used you to bless others too. I guess we will meet people when we really get home in heaven and find out that here and there even though we didn’t even realize it, when we did our Father’s will – followed in the direction that Jesus sent us – that there were people that we blessed and didn’t know it until we were told up in heaven. Kinda like that wonderful song – Thank You For Giving To The Lord. I am a life that was saved. Thank you for giving to the Lord, I am so glad you gave…
Anyway I thank you today. Or rather in the wee hours of the morning in the U.S. I prayed and then I read your blog.
    Hugs and Blessings,
    Debbie in Texas

    1. Hi Debbie, so glad the blog has been a blessing to you and I too believe strongly in God’s appointments – no coincidences. I think it was John Wimber who used to call them ‘Divine Appointments’. I’ve seen those appointments happen far too often for me to think they are just random.

When we stand before Him, we will find out just how many people have been helped by what we do, and most of those things will have happened without us even realising it. I think that God works more through the small, unnoticed things like basic acts of kindness and compassion, as well as the large but still unnoticed things like holding atoms together 😀

Your two replies on my blog today have been a real encouragement, and I am blessed by them. See, you’ve just really blessed me, a brother whom you haven’t even met, just by writing a couple of responses. And they will bless others who read them too. So even there you have added to the love and blessing that are available in this world. And that’s how this stuff works!
